IMPORTANT:This activity is intended exclusively for the Public Pitch selected projects.


The aim of the workshop is to help documentary projects, work on the trailers and improve the pitchings and presentation skills, to have the best opportunity for a successful meeting with broadcasters and funders.

The participants will get professional feedback on their project and pitch to help them focus and effectively present the story they want the film to tell.



  • Before the festival the projects will receive specific advice on their trailer through an individual online session via Skype.
  • During the festival there will be two work sessions with the tutors and the rest of the selected projects.


Monday  20th of May and Tuesday 21st of May from 9.00h to 18.00h  at CCCB.

International Documentary Consultant and Executive Producer of Passionate 4 Docs.

Catherine is now working as a Documentary Consultant, Producer, Moderator, Mentor and Editorial Coach at Festivals and international workshops. These include Hot Docs in Toronto, IDFA in Amsterdam, DocEdge in India, Rio TV Content MarketRome Film Festival, & DocsBarcelona, to name just a few. For 22 years, Catherine was the Commissioning Editor of the CBC’s “The Passionate Eye”, an award-winning series specializing in political and social issues which she developed into one of the most successful documentary strands in North America. It’s a series she also had the unique opportunity of host for 8 years.

Catherine is one of the founding members of the Canadian Documentary Festival Hot Docs, and for many years, a member of its international advisory board.  She began her career as a camerawoman and editor, and has since worked as a TV journalist & host, writer, director, and documentary producer. Films she’s commissioned or invested in have won virtually every award available, including Oscars, Emmys, Canadian Geminis, Bafta’s, and Peabody’s.  Films commissioned for the Passionate Eye she’s particularly proud of include Yung Chang’s “Up the Yangtze”, Peter Raymonts’s “Shake Hands with the Devil”, Neil Diamond’s ‘Reel Injun’, Ric Bienstock’s “Sex Slaves”,  Ido Haar’s “Presenting Princess Shaw”, to name just a few.

Mikael OpstrupMikael Opstrup

EDN (European Documentary Network) Head of Studies and Co-production Guide Editor.

He graduated with a degree in Film from The University of Copenhagen.
Mikael Opstrup worked with distribution and theatrical release of documentaries during most of the 80’s. He was a freelance Producer and Production manager up through the 90’s. He organized the film festival “Films from the South” from 1995 to 1998, and worked as Production Adviser at The Danish Film Institute from 1998 to 2002.

Since 2000 he has worked as tutor / moderator at a large number of workshops and forums around Europe, in The Middle East and South America. From 2002 to 2008 he has been a co-owner and producer at the Final Cut Productions in Copenhagen where he has produced a number of international documentaries. In 2009 he has been a Film strategic adviser on documentaries of The Middle East. Also from 2009 he serves as Lead Production Tutor at Ex Oriente Film Workshop.
Board member of EDN – European Documentary Network – from 2005 to 2009, and Chairman from 2008-09. He is currently Head of Studies of EDN and Co-production Guide Editor.
